Revision Surgery and Stitching Things Up – Revising and Editing

You have completed an outline and have written your first draft. While it’s a lot of work and something to take pride in, you are not done yet. Usually, there are areas to be fixed, or “revised,” and general polishing is needed. Join Director of Writing Advising Jennifer Wyatt-Speegle, Associate Director of Advising Dr. Susan Choo, and Writing Advisor Loren Cressler as they help you put the finishing touches on your personal statement. In this workshop you will learn:

• What steps to take to get your final draft.
• How to write a compelling introduction.
• Why transitions are so important, and how to implement those transitions.
• What makes a great conclusion

Jennifer Wyatt-Speegle has gained over 12 years of experience working in education. She has tutored high school students on SAT/ACT test prep and advised them on writing personal statements. In 2020, Jennifer joined the MedSchoolCoach team as a writing advisor, helping students applying to medical school produce authentic and compelling written application materials.

Dr. Choo is a pediatrician with extensive experience with admissions and advising medical students.
